College Testing

Attention Seniors! The SAT and ACT are now OPTIONAL for most colleges. Depending on your major and other factors, you will still want to see 

CSU: The California State University (CSU) no longer uses ACT or SAT examinations in determining admission eligibility for all CSU campuses. If accepted to a CSU campus, ACT or SAT test scores can be used as one of the measures to place students in the proper mathematics and written communication courses.

UC: UC will not consider SAT or ACT test scores when making admissions decisions or awarding scholarships. If you choose to submit test scores as part of your application, they may be used as an alternative method of fulfilling minimum requirements for eligibility or for course placement after you enroll.

Private Colleges & Out of State Colleges Vary! If you want to know more about your potential colleges and if they are considering aptitude scores, you can ask any of the staff from our College and Career Center or check the websites for specific colleges and universities.

Take a free online practice test.

• princetonreview.com - click on SAT or ACT and then select free practice test under Learn More on left hand column. 
• tutor.com - you need to have a Hayward Public Library card and enter your library card number on the website. Then click on Homework Support and Live Homework Help to access the practice tests.
• Khan Academy - free online learning - for SAT go to khanacademy.org/test-prep/sa

ACT Registration: ACT Student

Do you qualify for free or reduced lunch?  See your counselor for a fee waiver.

Sophomores: All sophomores take the PSAT to prepare for SAT, ACT, and community college placement tests.

 

Juniors: If you who plan to attend a four-year college you should take the PSAT for scholarship opportunities! (PSAT Not scheduled for 2022 - 2023)

 

PSAT is offered during school on a Wednesday in October each year.  Sign up in the counseling office in late September/early October. (PSAT Not scheduled for 2022 - 2023)
