World House
The World House Program has been established to support newly arrived youth at HUSD. The program began operating in 2011 at Tennyson High School and Chavez Middle School. The focus of World House is to support newcomers in learning English while integrating into a new country, new culture, and a new educational system. The World House Program is set up to support students who have been in the US for 0-2 years.
The criteria for students to enter the World House program is:

7th through 12th Newly Arrived ELLs who have been in the United States’ School System less than two years and who have received a level 1 or 2 in the English Language Proficiency Assessment for California (ELPAC)
English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC)
ELAC MISSION/ MISIÓN DEL ELAC:
The purpose of the English Learners Advisory Committee is to advise the principal and school staff on the needs, programs and services for English Learners and on the development of the School Plan (SPSA) and budget as it pertains to English Learners.
The annually required tasks for ELACs are:

Provide training for EL parents on the various components of the HUSD Master Plan for English Learners.

Oversee the explanation, distribution, data collection and data reporting pertaining to the annual ELAC Surveys

Advise site leadership on ways to improve student attendance.
El propósito del Comité asesor sobre los aprendices de inglés es de aconsejar al director y al personal docente de la escuela sobre las necesidades, programas y servicios para los aprendices de inglés y aportar sobre el desarrollo del Plan Escolar (SPSA) en todo asunto pertinente a estos alumnos.
Las tareas anualmente requeridas que cada ELAC debe realizar son:

Brindar capacitación sobre las partes distintas del Plan General del HUSD para los aprendices de inglés

Supervisar la explicación, distribución, recopilación de datos y reportaje de los mismos proviniendo de las Encuestas anuales ELAC

Aconsejar al liderazgo de la escuela sobre maneras de cómo mejorar la asistencia estudiantil
